Canoeing

Kayaking is a diverse sport covering flat water, sea, surf, white water and everything in between. But all the disciplines require the same mastery of the basic skills that move the kayak gracefully over the water. The ability to be able to control your craft with style and panache, no matter what the wind and weather is doing, is learnt and honed on flat water. With our 1-2-1 one hour lesson you will get to try the closed cockpit kayaks under the supervision of an experienced and qualified instructor. You will be introduced to the basics of kayak control while enjoying a trip across and around our gorgeous lake. If it floats your boat, the best way to improve is to book onto one of our BCU courses, where we will take you through one star and beyond.

CONFIDENCE
based training

Don't worry if you don't feel confident enough to tackle the Eskimo roll straight away. Our instructors are highly trained and will take you from complete beginner to an accomplished paddler! You can start to train in the open top kayaks, which make it easier - if you fall out, just climb straight back in again, progressing quickly through to the Kayak and before long through to Kayak with spray deck. You set the level that you train at....although we may push you occasionally! Or for that extra shot of confidence, a friend can learn with you for half price!

BCU 1 Star £135, £115 for Juniors

Four 1 hour lessons with 4 practise hours.

During these lessons you will learn the basics of kayak & Canoe control, looking at forward and reverse paddling, sweeps strokes to turn the boat in a controlled manner, draw strokes to go sideways, stern rudders to go straighter for less effort and the support strokes to help you stay upright, and of course the capsize drill.

Pay and Play Rental Scheme

Our open top rental kayaks mean you only need a land based safety briefing (included in the rental price) before getting afloat. To hire a closed cockpit Kayak, we will need to see a BCU 1 Star Certificate, or for you to have a lesson. With a 2 seater Canadian canoe, open or closed single kayaks - options are endless.
