Whether you're standing on a board or sitting in a boat the wind rush is just as good! Our variety of small boats make the learning experience one to remember, as well as giving hours of practice and fun once you have learnt the basics.

These include single handed as well as crew boats. Our dinghy courses are also run on the popular 1-2-1 basis ensuring that you learn at your own pace. Again you have the free hour supervised practice after each lesson.

As with all private tuition courses, bring a friend, and they learn for half price! You may be a newcomer to the sport and not sure if you want to take it up, or you may be an old sea dog who’s just rediscovering their sea legs. Whatever the case our private tuition is ideal. An hours private lesson is only £38 so you can get afloat to see if its going to be your thing or refresh your memory, then once you’re hooked you can go on to complete the RYA courses, including learn to sail level 1 and 2, Seamanship skills, Racing and Spinnakers RYA Level 1 - Going from the very beginning with your very first steps into the boat. On Level 1 you learn all about rigging the boat and all the parts, wind awareness and manoeuvres to be able to get yourself around a triangular course. The first two lessons is just you in a crew boat with your instructor on board. Then, once you have mastered the basic skills you move into the single handed boat with the instructor escorting you in the safety boat for your first time solo and capsize drill. You then have 3 free practice hours to practice what you have learnt before moving on to Level 2. RYA Level 2 - Once you have mastered the art of sailing with Level 1, we teach you how to do it even better in Level 2. You learn about the 5 essentials, how to get the most out of the boat as well as learning more boat control with manoeuvres such as the man over board drill and basically "tidying up" your sailing! Level 2 is normally the recognised level to enable you to hire a boat at other centres.

Rental of equipment is dependent on the weather conditions and personal skill level, and is at the discretion of the management. Rules of the lake must be read and adhered to.

Group Sessions

Dinghy Sailing

We take groups of up to 8 people, 2 per Topper Topaz ,with an instructor leading the session from a safety boat.

After a short on land demonstration the group soon learns to both helm (drive) the boat whilst taking it in turns to crew - learning all about the controls, parts of the boat and an understanding of the wind.

The boats used in the school are selected for ease of use and stability. We are currently updating our fleet of boats to include new crew boats, Topper Topaz and Topper Taz single handed boats

For the less confident we have crew boats where the instructor teaches on board.
